Apple Deals Out a New, Chatty iPod Shuffle

Apparently tiny wasn't enough of a description for the iPod Shuffle, as Apple on Wednesday unveiled a new miniscule version of their smallest iPod.

Remember the SNL skit regarding the iPod? The last being so small you couldn't see it, it was called the iPod Flee. Looks like we're getting pretty close!

Stupid that you need to use only the original apple earphones.

Re: Apple Deals Out a New, Chatty iPod Shuffle

was looking at the apple page for it this morning - like BlueMak i don't like the idea that you have to use the bundled earphones (which if anything like the iphone headset, are prettyaverage) but when you consider the target audience, it's not so bad

from the looks of it, the new shuffle is aimed at the casual listener, or someone using it while working out - sound quality probably isn't really on their minds there, and the ability to control playback from the headphone cord is quite a cool feature (as I found out when testing the iPhone headset)

That said, it's not for everyone, and I'd only consider it as a back-up meda player, but the price tag of AU$129 is a bit much for me to swallow for what it is

If the earbuds stay in ears while the user is running, then this is a very neat gadget for passionate joggers (though with some serious competition from Sansa Clip and other similar players). Other than that, it looks cute, but my Sony NWZ-A816, which cost me a comparable sum of money and also comfortably fits every pocket, has it beaten on sound quality (thanks to the bundled earphones), functionality and battery life.
