Tropico (PC) Review @ GH

Read The Review Here
_______________
City building games are a popular genre with the public and the Tropico series has always comprised a fine combination of traditional building with interesting and diverse directions. Tropico 3 has just been released and adds an intriguing layer of political action which brings another dimension to the overall strategy dynamic.

Re: Tropico (PC) Review @ GH

The game seems very appealing. I haven't played anything strategic for a while until recently when I played a little bit of World in Conflict: Soviet Assault. It was a very nice game and I had a sathisfying experience, but as I progressed through the campaign I wished for something different and this could be the thing. I'll download the demo later today and probably see how it goes tonight.

Re: Tropico (PC) Review @ GH

I like it and recommend it to anyone who is keen on this kind of game. The missions are fairly varied, especially with how there are both random and mission specific events that occurr. I felt that the difficulty became fairly low after having figured out a good startup sequence for the economy, but if you enjoy building then that won't be a problem. And if you want a more difficult game then you can choose or create a character that doesn't fit as well with the mission objective. A little roleplaying can be fun too, like picking a political faction as your enemy and put the squeeze on their leading supporters. After all what good is a dictator without any rebels?

Annoyingly, VSync is always set to OFF when the game is started.

Edit: If you happen to have played one of the previous Tropico games recently however, you may find that not that much of the gameplay has been changed or improved. Perhaps better wait for the game to reach the bargain bin in that case.

Re: Tropico (PC) Review @ GH

I'm pretty much rediscovering gaming since I switched from A64 3000 and 9800Pro to Athlon 2 x2 240 and 4670 recently, so I haven't played any of the previous games. Downloading the demo now.
