TimeGate Studios are a developer well known for their release of the Kohan real time strategy series which was a favourite with the gaming community a few years ago. They tried to push the boundaries of the genre and for the most part it worked well. They were also responsible for the F.E.A.R. Expansions - Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate. Today we review their latest game, a multiplayer focused shooter.

Good review.
The game is different from what I was expecting. (by not reading any previews)
I was expecting a Halo clone and not a Battlefield clone. So I am not that interested in it, although it is tempting.

On the other hand, it is a Timegate studios game (spit), so I won't buy it.

It sure looks good though.

For months they were promising patch for their WW2 RTS game. And it is coming and it is coming, where is it? Oh yeah, it never came.
It's not the only reason I won't buy this (single player is very weak), but it's a nice bonus.

Yes, I played, the first IIRC. I think the second was released shortly after their WWII fiasco and I didn't touch it.
I think I might still have the discs from it. I remember their deep red colour, quite nice.

As for the game, it was different, nothing exactly like it in mechanics although before and after it there were games with similar parts. (well, their own games that's for sure)
Kohan was a good game, but, although its system was supposed to reduce micromanagement, I found the truth to be the opposite, same with Company of Heroes. If you have played older RPGs that ran in real time and you had a party of few characters, now imagine (not presentation wise) the same thing only in larger numbers since you also had several parties at the same time, including your cities that you had to take care of. Battles and attacks going on all the time in various points, spawning of enemies, AI that always knew what you had where and always managed to attack the single weak point, etc.
Very good game for what it was, but I never really enjoyed it. Objectively I would give it 4/5, subjectively 2/5.
I heard that Kohan II is better.
