LocoRoco 2 (PSP) Review @ GH

We don’t often review portable titles here on Gamingheaven, mainly because a huge portion of them hold no interest to our readership. One such game which will appeal to many however is the followup to the hugely successful LocoRoco released on the Playstation Portable a few years ago. This time around developer SCE Studios Japan have incorporated a new series of game play elements to keep things fresh and fun.

Re: LocoRoco 2 (PSP) Review @ GH

Whilst not related to this interview directly, the first sentence on the review got me wishing the PSP was a bit more popular here in the west. Surely the problem lies with the developers/publishers here. Or does it? A quick look at the japanese charts for this week sees the PSP holding first, second and fifth slot which is quite an achievement for a 4 year old format. Over here though the focus seems to be not on quality games but on who can crack the latest firmware on the day of release.

I don't mind holding my hands up and saying that I have the latest Sony firmware on my PSP. I did dabble in the homebrew scene a few years ago as I have an original pre-uk release japanese import and a FF7 special edition PSP but to be honest the whole homebrew scene was and still is abysmal.

I'm sad to say that classics such as the game reviewed today will be overlooked and the PSP will carry on it's spiral towards death by user. I implore you fellow psp owners - stop using your PSP to play buggy, frequently crashing 15 year old ROMS and go buy a game, lets send a positive signal to the developers. The japanese charts show the potential for the PSP.
